(n) an organization created by author Brad Meltzer for the purpose of restoring and preserving the house where Jerry Seigel created the comic book character Superman with his artist friend Joe Shuster


Silver Age:
(adj.) the era of American comic books lasting from approx. the mid 1950’s to the early 1970’s characterized by more sci-fi and fantasy elements


Sinestero:
(n) Green Lantern character known to antagonize Hal Jordan and for inducing great fear in his enemies. Looks vaguely like a pissed-off Vinent Price if he was choking. Leader of the Yellow Lanterns.


Skrull:
(n) a member of an alien race from Marvel Comics known for its shape-shifting abilities  (v) to pretend to be something or someone that one is not; to hide one’s true nature as in “I think Jackson is Skrulling with the bookies to learn more for Jared…”

Slabbing: (v.) slang term for the process by which the CGC seals comics in duel-layer heavy-duty holders


Spoilers:
(adj.) Tidbits that ruin specific plot points or conlusions to stories/books/movies/etc. “Spoiler alert: Dumbledore/Earth 2 Superman/Aunt May died (again)!” Often met with angry yells and vicious beatings.


Streaky:
(n) DC’s Silver Age feline companion for Supergirl and Superman. Don’t ask. We’re not even touching the super horse they had back then.

Thirty Minutes of Morning: (n) The title of Issues: Episode 3, playing off of the famous vampire story 30 Days of Night.


Top-shelfer:
(n) a bookie who enjoys the adult-themed books and magazines generally located on high shelves out of the view of ankle-biters. “Porno Man” is the resident Top-shelfer in the Issuniverse.

TPB: (n) abbreviation for trade paperback; a collection of previously-printed comic books reprinted together in a book-length form

Uncivil War: (n) The fifth episode of Issues: The Series, entitled as to poke fun at the Marvel Comics magnum opus Civil War.

V

Variant: (n) an alternate version of a comic book, action figure, etc. usually done in a smaller run and/or containing extra features not found in the standard form


Vertigo:
(n) DC imprint company focusing on more adult-oriented graphic novels including Sandman, V for Vendetta, Fables, Preacher and more. Also an awesome Hitchcock movie and an unfortunate phobia, but that’s not what you’d be looking for in this definition now is it?
